Sorry, all sold out!
In the late eighties my brother was renovating his house when I saw some tiles lying aside next to a shed. This gave me the idea to paint a tarot deck on tiles. Thus the Hermetic Tarot and the Alchemical Tarot were born.
The Hermetic Tarot is a blend of images derived from the traditional European hermetic tradition. We have here images from the Freemason, the Rosicrucian and alchemical tradition, plus some ideas from myself along the same line.
The original deck consists of twenty-two paintings in acrylic on earthenware tiles 10" square.
A booklet explains the images and symbols. Following is a sample of the text for the Empress card, which is shown above.
"3. The Empress. As mother nature she brings spiritual richness (grapes and apple). The black throne on the right is the throne of the Egyptian goddess Isis. The lotus flower emerging from the water is an Egyptian symbol for the growing and flowering soul. The Goddess in Hermetic traditions is often associated with the soul of nature. The white eagle is the spiritual, here standing on the alchemical symbol of salt which basically means form. The spiritual takes on form and becomes physical. Ouroboros, the serpent biting in his tail is another symbol for the soul of nature. The Sun and Moon are sulfur and mercury, here linked together. They symbolize spirit and soul linked to each other and taking on form."
The Hermetic Tarot is a great tool to connect with our spiritual heritage by exploring the rich symbolic meaning of the images.
